23rd May 2024, Kathmandu, Nepal. The South Asia Foresight Network SAFN in Washington DC and the  Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement(NIICE) in Nepal entered into an MOU for research collaboration and exchange.  The collaboration will enable joint research in Nepal and the region of South Asia, where the SAFN network will conduct foreign policy, security and Futures Research.

The collaboration will bridge South Asia and Washington, D.C. to understand the existing and emerging geopolitical and foreign policy challenges in the Indo-Pacific. Asanga Abeyagoonasekera, the Executive Director of SAFN, delivered a lecture on “Nepal and Sri Lanka in the Indo-Pacific: Balancing India, China and the US”. Among the participants at the event were foreign diplomats, researchers and scholars.
